Dear parents and carers,

Today is a landmark in the careers of our Year 13 students as A Level Exams have finished  and we are giving thanks for their achievements and contribution to college life at our annual Leavers Mass this evening at 6pm in the Hall. Year 12 have visited universities in Liverpool for their Higher Education Day today and they and their parents are invited to a HE Finance briefing at 5.30pm in the Hall on Thursday. On a related theme all Year 10 classes participated in an Economics Awareness session this morning.

From Sunday to Tuesday next week Year 12 and Year 10 students are completing Silver and Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award expeditions, and we wish them good luck and a safe return. Next Friday, 28th June, all students in Years 7-10 will be involved in our annual Br. Kerrigan Sponsored Walk, in memory of our former Headmaster who was martyred in Sierra Leone in 1995. Our Immersion Retreat Group visited his grave in Freetown in February and we are dedicating this year’s walk in his memory. We are fundraising for a borehole and well at the Christian Brothers School in Maburreh, on the fringes of the jungle outside Makeni, which we also visited in February. Please encourage your son to raise £10 or more in sponsorship for this worthy cause.

I am pleased to report the safe returns of our recent Flanders and Sorrento trips and congratulate the participants upon their good conduct.

Congratulations also to the most recent winners of the Headmaster’s Award: Alfred Wheeler (Y7), Rylan Longog (Y8), Fionn Cubbin (Y9) and Zak Mennie (Y10), all of whom are exemplary students and Anselmians.

The brave Cheshire Cup run of our Year 7 Cricket Team finally came to an end in the semi-final against King’s School this week, but this represents a very encouraging first season at the College, during a damp summer!

On a personal note, my Retirement Mass is being celebrated on Tuesday at 6pm in the Hall. I am delighted that many parents and students will be attending. If you would like to join us and have yet to reply, please contact my Secretary Mrs Alison Cook (for catering purposes).

I wish you and your families an enjoyable and sunny weekend.

Yours in Christ,

Simon Duggan

Headmaster
