Dear Parents and Carers,

It was both a joyful and poignant occasion yesterday morning as we said a fond “bye for now” to our outstanding Year 11 students as they begin a well-earned summer break. It was also wonderful to welcome many of the external students hoping to join our Sixth Form in September, we look forward to seeing them all in the new term.  Thank you for your continued support throughout the exam season, whether through revision, attendance at masterclasses, or simply ensuring your son arrived each day, on time ready to give his best. I am very much looking forward to celebrating their achievements when results are released in August.

This evening marks another significant milestone as we formally bid farewell to our talented Year 13 students at their Farewell Mass and Colours Awards presentation. The awards recognise the exceptional contributions students have made to College life beyond the classroom. The citations and photographs this year are ‘very personal’ to say the least.  Thank you for making such a brilliant effort emailing them to us.

Congratulations also to our Year 10 students, who have made an excellent start to their mock examinations despite the recent warm weather. Their exam period will culminate next Friday with the Brother Kerrigan Walk. Information has already been emailed home, but please ensure your son brings sun cream, a hat and plenty of water should the hot weather continue. The dining room will be closed, but FOSA will be selling a selection of pizzas and hot dogs.  A tuck shop and ice cream van will also be available. Students are also welcome to bring their own lunch.  Please ensure you have given consent for the walk via ParentPay.

All funds raised from the walk will support mental health and wellbeing initiatives for young males through the Paul Lavelle Foundation, the Martin Gallier Project, and bespoke wellbeing programmes within the College.

As mentioned last week, on Sunday 5th July, a number of staff, students and members of our wider College community, including myself, will be taking part in the Liverpool–Chester–Liverpool Bike Ride in support of Northwest Cancer Research. Alongside this, we have launched a GoFundMe campaign to further support the charities above and our work promoting young male mental health and wellbeing. Thank you, as always, for your continued support of the College.
