Dear Parents and Carers,

Congratulations to all of Key Stage 3 who have now completed their summer examinations. As always, the boys conducted themselves impeccably throughout the week, demonstrating excellent effort, maturity and behaviour. What a wonderful way to conclude a week of hard work with today’s Sports Day. I am sure it will once again be a fantastic occasion and a real celebration of College spirit and community.

My sincere thanks in advance to FOSA for generously giving their time to run the tuck shop, and to the parents and carers of students participating in the South Africa Rugby Tour for organising the hot food stalls. All funds raised will go directly towards initiatives that benefit our students and enhance their experience in College.  For example, we are currently progressing plans for the redevelopment of the area adjacent to the Science Block, which will become an outdoor learning and quiet recreational space for students at lunchtime. In addition, students have expressed a strong desire to refurbish the gym facilities. If any parents or carers are aware of local gyms or organisations upgrading their equipment, we would be delighted to hear from you, as the boys would greatly appreciate the opportunity to support and develop this project further.

Our new Executive Team and Senior Prefects recently attended the Sixth Form Leadership Conference, “Hope Begins with Us”, led by Edmund Rice England. The students represented the College exceptionally well and engaged in a highly thought-provoking and inspiring day alongside students from across the Edmund Rice network. They have now been challenged to develop action plans aimed at making a meaningful and lasting impact within our community over the next twelve months.

This evening, the Anselmian Association will host a Leavers’ BBQ for Year 13 students at the College. I am sure it will be a wonderful opportunity for the boys to celebrate together and reflect on their time at St. Anselm’s, particularly in the glorious weather we are currently enjoying.

Best of luck to all students whose revision continues over the half-term break. We are now at the halfway stage, so I encourage them to remain focused, determined and positive in the weeks ahead.

Finally, thank you once again for your continued generosity in donating pre-loved uniform items, particularly PE kit, rugby boots and branded clothing. Donations of Duke of Edinburgh equipment, especially walking boots, are also greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at Reception at any time. FOSA are hoping to hold a pre-loved uniform sale at the College on Friday 12th June, with further details to follow shortly.

Wishing you all a lovely half term,

Mrs Serena Cubbin
Headteacher
