The 1^st XV rugby squad played in the Merchant Taylors’ pre-season tournament on Saturday.

It was a good start to the season with all 27 of the squad playing well and getting valuable game time, on a beautiful summer’s day in Crosby.

We defeated hosts Merchants by 17-5 and then played some excellent rugby in a 36-5 win over Kings School Lytham, winning both matches.

New captain Jack McCabe led from the front and there were a number of exciting debuts with Alex Kerr the pick of the bunch.

A tough fixture away at Cheadle awaits the 1^st and 2^nd teams on Saturday.
