Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another fantastic week of sport at the College. Last night, students from Years 10, 11, 12, 13, alongside members of our Alumni, joined together to play Neston in the first hockey fixture of the season.  In cricket, Year 9 secured an excellent victory against St Mary’s Crosby. Huge congratulations to Zach Shillinglaw, named MoTM after scoring a superb half-century. Year 10 also enjoyed success, defeating Calday Grange by six wickets, with Austin Gijo earning MoTM also for his outstanding half-century performance.

Mr Cubbin has emailed information regarding Year 13 leavers’ activities. Please complete the Microsoft Form to confirm attendance at the Year 13 Leavers’ Mass and Colours Awards Evening. We would also appreciate parents purchasing Prom tickets via ParentPay as soon as possible as final arrangements and numbers need to be confirmed.

Mr Dowse will shortly send final details regarding Year 11 study leave arrangements, together with information about the Year 11 Celebration Morning which will take place on Thursday 18th June. This occasion provides students with an opportunity to celebrate the end of their exams, take photos and sign shirts etc.  Please remind your son that full school uniform must be worn for every examination, so shirts should remain intact and signature-free until all exams have concluded!

Next week, I will be meeting with students from all year groups to discuss our new mobile phone policy, which will come into effect from September 2026. To date, both students and staff have adapted extremely well to our ‘Phone Free Friday’ initiative. Following half term, this will be extended across the full school week from Monday to Friday. Sixth Form students and those with specific medical needs will remain exempt. Further information will follow in due course.

A reminder also that we are now fully into the examination season. Please encourage your son to maintain consistent revision habits and arrive well prepared for examinations. Last-minute cramming does not work and only increases stress and anxiety.

Finally, thank you for your continued generosity in donating pre-loved uniform items, particularly PE kit, rugby boots, and branded clothing. Donations of DofE equipment, especially walking boots, are also greatly appreciated. Items can be dropped off at Reception at any time.

Kind regards,
Mrs Cubbin
