Dear parents and carers,

I hope that you have had a good week. It was a busy one at the College. Year 13 have completed their second set of Mock Exams, so it is Year 11’s turn this week. Do not let them out on the town this weekend! Our Rugby 7s success continued this week with our unbeaten Year 7 squad winning the Cheshire 7s, defeating St. Ambrose College 4-3 in the final and the Senior VII reaching the final of the Whitchurch Sevens before losing narrowly to Ellesmere College 21-19. Congratulations to Year 11 players Jamie Arista, Joe Fletcher, Will Hollis and Isaac Waldron who have been selected for the Sale Sharks Academy Under-16 team against Exeter Chiefs on Sunday. Tomorrow our teams compete in the King’s School Macclesfield tournament and we have further opportunities for silverware next week!

We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday and Year 7 have had a fantastic week with an English Trip to Stratford-on-Avon on Thursday and the Liverpool Philharmonic today, conducting themselves well! On this note, congratulations to Ayush Shiebu in Year 8 who has won a place on the ORA Young Composers Apprenticeship Programme.

Our Parental Advice evening with input from Health Services in schools was well-attended and we have been very pleased with the feedback from parents.

This week our focus shifts to Year12 with their Parents Evening from 5pm on Thursday and the deadline for Executive Prefect applications being at 3pm on Friday.

Our Lenten focus continues with charitable activities this week, including a Year 7 Own Clothes Day on Friday. A donation of £1 for the Diocesan Good Shepherd Fund is requested. If your son is a baptised Catholic and you live in West Wirral, I draw your attention to the Sacrament of Confirmation Programme at St. Winefride’s parish, Neston, for boys in Year 8 upwards. Details are on the College and parish websites.

I wish you and your families an enjoyable weekend.

Yours in Christ,

Simon Duggan
