Dear parents and carers,
the phoney war is now over! Written GCSE Exams have begun for Year 11s and Year 13 students have written A level and BTEC exams next week. Please remember them in your prayers.
Letters containing offers of places in our 6th Form were distributed to Year 11 students last week, so please quiz your son if you are unaware of this! He can explain it to you while having a brief break from his GCSE revision. The boys have made a very good start to the exam season, settling into routines quickly. We will continue to run the normal timetable for Year 11 next week, with breaks for GCSE exams and subject revision sessions prior to exams, so your sons should attend the College as normal. The Year 13 timetable also continues throughout next week.
Continuing the exam theme, I remind parents of boys in Years 7, 8 and 9 that their end of year exams begin on Tuesday 21st May and finish on Friday 24th May.
On a photographic note, the annual Year 13 Photo was taken yesterday and will be on our social media before long. The College Photograph, taken last month, will be available to purchase soon and we will send the link to parents. Our students were impeccably behaved during the process.
In the warm weather some boys are attempting to circumvent our uniform requirements. Please ensure that your son is wearing his blazer, tie and shoes! There is little need for coats now and boys are not allowed to wear them in class or instead of blazers. Defaulters will automatically be assumed to have volunteered for lunch duty!
The damp weather has played havoc with the sporting calendar this term, but our Junior and Intermediate Teams compete in the Merseyside round of the English Schools Cup on Monday, a competition in which we have enjoyed considerable past success. We are usually the leading school in the North of England. No pressure then, boys and Mr Allkins!
By a notable irony the GCSE RE Exam prevented us celebrating the Solemnity of the Ascension of The Lord in the Hall on Thursday, but Mr Murray prepared online reflections for all Years.
I wish you and your families an enjoyable and hopefully dry weekend.
Yours in Christ,
Simon Duggan
Headmaster
