During the Personal Development lesson on Wednesday, 5th June, our students attended a series of career talks, offering insights into various career pathways. This opportunity allowed them to ask thoughtful questions and gain the confidence, skills, and knowledge necessary for advancing in education, training, and employment.

Scottish Power

Scottish Power spoke to our top set GSCE Mathematics students about their apprenticeship and training programmes and how they bring learning and earning together. There apprenticeship scheme give students the opportunity to study towards a nationally recognised qualification, as well as earn a competitive salary, develop new skills and gain invaluable knowledge and experience. 

They discussed how their excellent training opportunities, varied career paths and training programmes will kick start a student’s career in an enduring industry, allowing them to set the foundations for their future.

They discussed how their programmes are crafted to unleash a student’s full potential, guiding them toward an exciting career trajectory. Regardless of chosen path, students embark on a purposeful career journey, directly contributing to Scottish Power’s pursuit of Net Zero.

Day Project Management

Day Project Management delivered a talk to our A-Level Business and Economic students. The careers talk focused on project management within the NHS. Students had the opportunity to hear from Adam Nevin who spoke about the dynamic world of project management and its crucial role in healthcare delivery. He covered the unique challenges and opportunities inherent in managing projects within the National Health Service. Students had the opportunity to learn how project management not only drives efficiency but also plays a vital role in shaping the future of healthcare delivery in the UK.

ShedKM

Our Art and Design Technology students from Key Stages 4 and 5 participated in a career talk led by Harry White from shedkm, an architectural firm. During the session, he discussed shedkm’s emphasis on regeneration in project work, highlighting their unique methods for creating impactful and socially transformative designs.

Livent

Livent delivered a session to our A-Level Chemistry students. Guest speaker Kevin Larmer from Livent discussed the company’s role in powering essential technologies. He explained how Livent drives advancements in electric vehicle batteries, mobile devices, lightweight alloys, and advanced polymers. By harnessing lithium technology, Livent is helping the world progress towards a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future.
