Dear parents and carers,

We have now completed the first week of the final half-term of this academic year.

It has gone well. We have enjoyed hosting the Spanish Exchange students of Santa Maria de la Capilla High School from Jaen and wish them a safe journey home this weekend. We also wish a safe journey to our Year 9 Expeditionary Force who depart for a 3 day English and History trip to Flanders early on Monday morning!

I am delighted to publicise the recent achievements of several of our students. Congratulations to James Manuel (Y12) who is being presented with his Wales Under-18 Sevens Cap this weekend and to Oberon Kearney (Y11) who has been selected for the Great Britain Under-17 Pentathlon Team at the European Championships in Madeira. Obe has also been selected to run the Relay.

Vasile Mateescu and Kerolos Wanis (Y9) and Jack Rowlands (Y7) have each been awarded Highly Commended certificates in the annual Wirral Christopher Salmon Poetry Competition.

I am pleased to publicise the fundraising efforts of the Junior SVP who are collecting small donations in Form Time to support the SVP Summer Camps for Disadvantaged Children, a noble cause long associated with the College.

The vibrant extra-curricular life of the College continues throughout this half-term. On Wednesday our Year 10-7 athletes compete in the regional final of the English Schools Cup and we have high hopes of securing places in the national final. Our Edmund Rice International group are holding a sleep out next Friday night in the Quad to raise awareness of homelessness and raise funds for homeless charities. Please support them!

I wish you and your families an enjoyable weekend.

Yours in Christ,

Simon Duggan
