Dear parents and carers,
another week has passed productively and we are now only a fortnight away from half-term. Next week is Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week and we will be focusing upon this theme in our assemblies. It is also National Apprenticeship Week. I remind you of 2 significant dates in our calendar. On Thursday we are holding the Year 9 GCSE Options Evening, for all Year 9 pupils and parents, from 6-8pm, and Friday 10th February is an INSET Day so the College will be closed to all students.
This has been a busy sporting week. Our Cross-Country runners finished 5th in the prestigious King Henry VIII Relays in Coventry on Wednesday. Our young team ran well, and Ethan Brady Jones (Y13) ran the 2nd-fastest individual lap of the day. Our Hockey teams played in the North West finals this week with the 1st XI winning 2 and drawing 2 of their 5 pool games, losing only to the eventual tournament winners. The Under-16s battled hard and drew with Bolton GS whom the Seniors defeated. Tomorrow, our rugby teams play Kirkham GS, one of the leading rugby schools in the country, at all age groups.
Sunday is a Day of Special Prayer in the Roman Catholic Church for Racial Justice, and we will once again be mindful of this in our community, building upon our recent Holocaust Memorial commemoration.
I wish you and your families a relaxing weekend.
Yours in Christ,
Simon Duggan
Headmaster
