Dear parents and carers,
this has been an unusual day as the unprecedented snow fall last night forced the closure of schools and cancellation of school buses in Wirral. I hope that the remote learning arrangements have worked well for your sons! I am afraid that there will be further disruption next week, owing to NEU industrial action on 15th and 16th March. The College will be partly open on both days, but Years 7 and 10 will have remote learning at home on Wednesday and Years 8 and 9 on Thursday. We have sought to balance and maintain continuity of education for all Year groups by implementing these arrangements. The date of the Year 12 Parents Evening has also been affected and will now be held at the College on Thursday 23rd March from 5pm.
Our Lenten observances have begun. Year 7 will have Form Masses on Friday afternoons, beginning with 7G on Friday. Voluntary confession will also be available for students on Tuesday morning when Fr. Michael is visiting the College, as Catholics are encouraged to seek the sacrament of reconciliation during Lent. Non Uniform days and cake sales have also begun!
The process has started for the election of our new Executive Prefect Team in Year 12. The deadline for applications is on Tuesday afternoon.
Good luck to our Year 8 Rugby Squad who have safely arrived in Northampton for their tour. On a rugby note, the Year 11 squad reached the final of the Merchant Taylors’ Sevens and Year 7 did the same at the MGS 7s last week. This weekend’s tournaments have been postponed. In Cross Country our Junior A Team won the Shrewsbury Relays and the Senior Team finished 2nd. Congratulations also to the 8 Anselmians selected to represent Merseyside in the English Schools Championships in Nottingham next Saturday and our 3 Year 7 runners who will run for Merseyside against Cheshire. See website for further details.
I wish you and your families a warmer and temperate weekend.
Yours in Christ,
Simon Duggan
