Dear parents and carers,

we observed our annual Remembrance Ceremony at the College this morning, remembering, among many others, those Anselmians who died in the service of this country during World War 2 and the Korean War and who are commemorated on the memorial plaque in the Hall. Years 13, 11 and 7 were present in the Hall and were immaculately behaved. The Ceremony was streamed live to Years 8, 9, 10 and 12.

This has been another successful week for our sportsmen. The 1st XV continued their outstanding start to the season, our best for 21 years, by defeating AKS Lytham 32 points to 14 in the 4th Round of the National Vase on Wednesday. We now confront St. Ambrose College in the Christian Brothers’ derby in the 5th round! The 1st XV also reached the semi-final of the Cheshire Cup by defeating the Grange School last Saturday. The Under-14s progressed to the next round of the National Competition by defeating Wirral GS 38-7 this week. There are no fixtures tomorrow as all pitches are waterlogged!

Congratulations to Mr Allkins and our Cross Country squads. The Intermediate Team (Y10 and 9) won the Regional Final of the English Schools Cup on Wednesday and have advancd to the National Final next month. On Thursday our Junior squad (Y7 and 8) collected their first trophy of the season with victory in the St. Mary’s Tournament at Stonyhurst, defeating the hosts, Sedburgh, Kirkham GS and Rossall along the way!

Next week is National Anti-Bullying Week and we will be standing up for diversity by holding an Odd Socks Day on Monday. Radio Merseyside have asked to interview me on Monday morning about our support for students and strategies to address mental health issues. My thanks to Miss Monk for championing this initiative. On Thursday we host Year 9 Parents Evening from 5-8pm on Thursday 16th November. Please arrive at Reception.

I remind Year 13 Parents that Year 13 Mock Exam Week begins on Monday 20th November. If your son is intending to go out this weekend, please advise him to think again!

Best wishes,

Simon Duggan
