On Wednesday a group of our Year 10 Physics students visited ACC Liverpool to attend the UK Imaging and Oncology Congress to find out about careers in this field.
The event included access to interactive and hands-on exhibits, and the students also toured the main exhibition halls, where they saw some of the cutting-edge technology that is used today in medical imaging.
The programme concluded with a live virtual talk from Dr Mike Capps, who is a computer game designer and for ten years was president of Epic Games (makers of Fortnite, Gears of War, Unreal Engine). The talk was titled “from healthcare to games and back again”. Mike discussed his career, talked about the possible risks of artificial intelligence, and answered some good questions from our students.
