Dear Parents and Carers,
Students celebrated the Feast of the Ascension yesterday by attending Mass at Our Lady’s Church. It was a beautiful celebration of faith and community, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our wonderful altar servers and readers who helped make the liturgy so special.
Yesterday’s emotional ‘Good Luck’ assembly for Year 11 was a truly memorable occasion and a fitting celebration of a fantastic year group. Mr Formela shared a wonderful collection of photographs, stories and reflections from the boys’ journey over the past five years, reminding us all just how much they have achieved and contributed to College life. I challenged the boys to achieve the highest collective Attainment 8 score in the College’s history, something I know they will approach with determination, resilience and their usual competitive spirit! The assembly ended brilliantly with an outstanding performance from our very talented Year 11 band the ‘Goodfellas’.
Today, our Sixth Form students attended a Human Rights Conference in Liverpool linked to the work of Edmund Rice International and the United Nations. The conference explored themes of social justice, equality, mental health, poverty and children’s rights, while encouraging students to become confident advocates for positive change within their communities. I was incredibly proud to see our students so engaged, compassionate and committed to living out the Eight Essentials of an Edmund Rice Education.
We wish all Key Stage 3 students the very best as they begin their summer examinations on Monday. The week will conclude with our Annual Sports Day at the Ridings on Friday, always one of the highlights of the College calendar and a wonderful celebration of teamwork. You are all welcome to attend.
Finally, thank you for your continued generosity in donating pre-loved uniform items, particularly PE kit, rugby boots and branded clothing. Donations of Duke of Edinburgh equipment, especially walking boots, are also greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at Reception at any time.
Kind regards,
Mrs Cubbin
