Dear parents and carers,
I hope that you and your families have had a good week, despite so many difficulties at home and abroad at present. The wet weather cannot dampen our spirits and college life is in full swing. Our sporting calendar continued last weekend with the 1st XV having notched up a notable 51-7 victory at Merchant Taylor’s on Saturday, and good wins for the under-15s and Under-13s. On Saturday we play Sandbach HS before the 1st XV take on St. Ambrose College in the Edmund Rice derby next Wednesday in the round of 16 of the Nat West Vase. Congratulations also to our Junior and Intermediate Cross Country squads who have qualified for the English Schools Cup Final in Leeds on 3rd December as runners up and winners respectively of the regional finals. Our 1st XI Hockey Team drew 2-2 with Birkenhead School on Wednesday, with honours even with Mr Taylor!
I remind Year 11 parents that we are holding our 6th Form Open Evening from 6-8pm on Wednesday, 23rd November, beginning in the Hall. We invite you and your sons to come and see what makes our 6th Form so successful and one of the best in the North West of England.
Year 13 begin their Mock Exams on Thursday 24th November, running until 2nd December. The timetable has been sent home.
The police have asked me to remind parents to park responsibly and safely in the vicinity of the College and be respectful of our neighbours. They are making the same appeal to BSHA. I know that the overwhelming majority of our parents do behave as expected, because I am regularly on duty. The further you park away from the College, the quicker you will make your escape as you will avoid the congestion caused by the buses and double parking on Egerton Rd!
We enjoyed meeting Year 7 parents last night and look forward to a productive partnership with you during the 2020s.
With best wishes,
Simon Duggan
Headmaster
