Dear parents and carers,
the final half-term of the Academic Year 2022-3 is now well underway. the Year 7-9 Exams are now completed, and we will be reporting to you before the end of term. We congratulate the boys upon their impressive conduct during exam week. Year 12 have also finished their exams and their reports will be sent to parents next week. Year 12 had a UCAS Day on Friday to explore university options and they ought to use their reports to help identify some attractive, and realistic Higher and Further Education options for next year. Our 6th Formers gained an informed perspective on local and regional government and democracy during the visit of Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram, and local Councillor, former Lord Mayor and College Governor George Davies last Thursday. Our distinguished visitors spoke with interest and passion about the benefits of devolved government and the potential economic opportunities for Merseyside from current green and environmental developments.
We have enjoyed tremendous sporting success this term. Sports Day was a wonderful afternoon, blessed by good weather and attracting a large crowd. Congratulations to our winning Forms: 7K, 8P, 9M and 10E (provisional!). There was some tremendous competition and achievements in a suitably-sporting atmosphere. Thank you for your support and also to those parents who provided welcome refreshments!
This provided a convenient warm-up for our Junior and Intermediate Athletics Teams, both of whom qualified as Regional Champions last week for the Final of the English Schools Cup. The Final is on 8th July in Chelmsford.
The ability of our leading athletes was demonstrated by their performances in the Merseyside County Athletics Championships. We have 11 County Champions, 13 Silver medal winners, 9 Bronze medallists and 4 boys have reached the individual qualifying standard for the National County Championships Final.
In Rugby 4 of our successful Year 10 squad have been selected for the Sale Sharks Under-16 Development Group, the next level above the DPP pathway.
