Dear parents and carers,
last week ended on a triumphant note as our Intermediate Under-15 team finished 3rd in the English Schools Cup Final in Woodbridge. This was a magnificent achievement by Mr Allkins and his young team, 2 of whom are in Year 9!
We have now reached the final week of the Christmas Term. We made a good start to Advent this week with an uplifting Advent Service on Tuesday, at which the Year 7 Choir performed admirably. Our Pop Choir sang at Tranmere Rovers’ Carols on Thursday and we have been enthusiastically fundraising through Non-Uniform days and the Key Stage 3 Cake Sale which raised a remarkable £322 for our KS3 charities Caritas and Save the Children. Years 7 and 8 participated in a liturgy of reconciliation this afternoon and all boys had the opportunity to go to confession. Their conduct was exemplary.
This week Year 9 and the 6th Form have a Non-Uniform day on Tuesday, which is also the day of the Key Stage 4 Mass and also their Cake Sale. On Thursday the SVP are holding a Christmas Jumper charity day for the Wirral food bank.
Our main event next week is our annual Prize Giving at Our Lady’s Church, Cavendish St., Birkenhead at 7pm. Please arrive by 6.40pm. Our Guest Speaker is old Anselmian Professor Simon McGrath, Professor of Education at the University of Glasgow. The College will close at 2pm in preparation.
We also have Year 7-11 nasal spray immunisations on Monday and finish with a half day on Friday. The College will close and the Christmas Term end at 1pm.
I wish you and your families an enjoyable weekend. I am sure that there will be some Advent and Christmas preparations on the horizon!
Yours in Christ,
Simon Duggan
