Dear parents and carers,
we have now completed the first full week of term and the boys have settled well into college routines. This was demonstrated last night at a very busy Open Evening when our Year 7, 8 and 12 guides, and other students helping in departments, gave an excellent account of themselves and greatly impressed our many visitors. Thank you for your support.
We had some unexpected staffing changes at the end of teh holidays. Mrs Lenton-Harris (Science) has left our service, and our former teacher Mrs Powell is covering her timetable until we appoint a permanent replacement. Mrs Meadows (MFL) has begun maternity leave, and her timetable is being taught by Mrs Edwards and Mrs Mouarkach.
Our teams made a flying start to the rugby season this week with a clean sweep of victories against respected opponents Cheadle Hulme School. The 1st XV then defeated Merchant Taylor’s Crosby 45-0 in the Nat West Vase on Wednesday! We now turn our attention to Birkenhead School in the local derby on Saturday!
I am pleased to inform you of our Eco-Schools Green Flag Award for 2023-4. Congratulations to Dr Bakht, Ms Roslan, Mr Devine and their team of Key Stage 3 and 6th Form students! Congratulations and good luck to Ben Barrett Jones (Y12) who is attending a European Youth Foundation Anti-Racism Conference in Spain next week.
I remind you that next Friday, 22nd September, is an INSET Day and the College will be closed to all students. We will also be holding the Governors’ Entrance Exam for boys currently in Year 6 on Friday morning.
I wish you and your families a relaxing weekend.
Kind regards,
Simon Duggan
Headmaster
