Dear parents and carers,

We are now at the end of the final full week of term, and it has been another busy one!

On Saturday our Junior Athletics Team finished 9th in the English Schools Cup Final and were the highest-placed team outside London. All the team performed well in a season’s best display, with exceptional performances from Shay Gardiner, Oscar He, Daniel Jones (all Y8) and Oliver Mills (Y7).

Year 10 Work Experience Week ends today and it has been a rewarding and successful one. Thank you to those parents who supported us with student placements. The Senior Rugby Tour party departed for South Africa yesterday and will be visiting Edmund Rice Schools and projects, as part of our Edmund Rice Education Beyond Borders initiative, as well as playing 3 matches.

We have 3 days of term next week, so please send your sons into the College as normal. Year 12 have their Work Experience opportunities and on Tuesday we hold our annual Rewards Day for Years 7-10 for those students who have qualified through their achievement and conduct. If your son has not qualified, please send him in to college so that he will get his chance next year.  Year 12 are not involved on Rewards Day so they will finish term at 3.30pm on Monday. Wednesday is a half day and we will hold our annual Participation Awards for boys in Years 7-10 that morning. The College will close at 1pm, when the buses will depart.

Congratulations to Moy Babayemi (Y9) who received the award for the Most Enterprising Student at the National Careers and Enterprise Awards in Doncaster on Tuesday. Malachi Harty and Charles Kerr (both Y9) have been selected to represent Merseyside at the National Athletics County Championships this weekend.

We were delighted to learn that old boy Luca Marzin, who completed his A Levels last summer, has been awarded a scholarship at Somerville College, University of Oxford, after finishing top of his year in his Preliminary Exams.

This is my final Friday message of the year and, indeed, of my Headship!

Thank you for your many kind messages and gifts. I will never forget the wonderful Anselmian community, which has been a second family for me.

I wish you a relaxing weekend, and an England victory!

Yours in Christ,

Simon Duggan

Headmaster
