Dear Parents and Carers,

Our Barcelona trip returned safely yesterday after a wonderful few days exploring some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Students visited La Boqueria Market, Barcelona Cathedral, Las Ramblas, the Gothic Quarter, Park Güell, the Barcelona FC Immersive Experience, Gaudí’s magnificent Sagrada Família Basilica and the Picasso Museum.

Good luck to our Year 10 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh students who set off this morning, with a second group departing tomorrow. We hope the weather is kind to you and wish you every success on your expedition.

A number of staff, students and members of our wider College community, including myself, will be taking part in the Liverpool–Chester–Liverpool Bike Ride on Sunday 5th July in support of North West Cancer Research. Alongside this, we have launched a GoFundMe campaign to raise funds to support the mental health and wellbeing of young males. Further details will follow. Congratulations to last term’s Headteacher’s Award recipients, who have exemplified the Eight Essentials of an Edmund Rice Education through their commitment, character and service to others:  Samuel Dickson (7J) Anthony Dickson (8B) Zachary Shillinglaw (9R) and Sebastian Lopez-Chan (10A).

Next week we look forward to welcoming our new Year 6 students for their transition programme. Thank you in advance to everyone supporting these events, particularly our outstanding Ambassador Prefects and FOSA volunteers for their continued generosity and support.

Finally, thank you once again for your continued donations of pre-loved uniform, particularly PE kit, rugby boots and branded sportswear. Donations of Duke of Edinburgh equipment, especially walking boots, are also greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at Reception at any time. FOSA are hoping to hold a pre-loved uniform sale at the College on Friday 12th June from 5.30pm–6.30pm.
