Dear parents and carers,

we have come to the end of a very wet week but have survived Hurricane Ciaran intact. I have, however, been struck by the number of boys who arrive at, and leave, College without coats, thereby risking a soaking, which is injurious to both health and learning!. I think it is time for all your sons to wear coats to College when it is raining, and to wear grey v-neck sweaters now that temperature have dropped!

The bad weather did not prevent the 1st XV from knocking Wirral GS out of the Nat West Vase in the 3rd Round on Wednesday and they travel to the Grange School in Cheshire tomorrow in pursuit of a place in the Cheshire Cup semi-final. Unfortunately all our home fixtures tomorrow are postponed as our pitches at The Ridings are unplayable. Our 2nd XV and Year 7 fixtures at Altrincham GS are on at present!

The Hockey 1st XI maintained their good start to the season with a 2-2 draw at Sandbach HS on Wednesday and our Intermediate and Senior Cross Country teams compete in the regional finals of the English Schools Cup next Wednesday.

The 612 Bus will now leave Mill Park Eastham, at the start of its journey, at the earlier time of 7.40am. Details from Mersey Travel are on the college website. It is their decision, not mine!

Next week we host our 6th Form Open Evening from 6-8pm on Wednesday 8th November. All Year 11 students and their parents are invited, including to view our new facilities in Outwood House.

This week we inaugurated November as a month of Remembrance. On Wednesday Fr. Michael celebrated Mass for Key Stage 3 on the Feast of All Saints and I led Key Stage 4 Assembly. Tomorrow morning at 11am the Anselmian Association Mass of Remembrance for Deceased Members and their familes will be celebrated by Fr. Bernard, the Association Chaplain, in the Chapel. On Friday morning we will hold our Annual Remembrance Ceremony in the Hall. Old boys are most welcome to join us.

I also invite parents to our Key Stage 3 Concert in MU5 on Thursday evening at 6pm. FOSA meet in 103 at 7pm that evening.

I wish you and your families an enjoyable, and drier, weekend!

Yours in Christ,

Simon Duggan
