Develop imagination, originality, curiosity, and playfulness in creating their own visual world. Communication of their own viewpoints, ideas and concepts through visual means. Discern and critically engage with the art made by others, including their peers, from other times and cultures and from artists in contemporary western society. Incorporating art history and contemporary art into the curriculum exposes students to global awareness and viewpoints other than their own. Committed to the process of creating over the product we create. IMPLEMENTATION – summary of the pedagogy to be used to effectively deliver the curriculum Promote the wellbeing and happiness of each individual when in the Department by creating a climate of tolerance, acceptance and respect, by encouraging self-esteem and the valuing of others, both in their qualities and limitations. Students are encouraged to experiment, persevere and arrive at their own unique solution while promoting skill building, discovery, and innovation. It is impossible to cover the whole realm of knowledge so we are selective in the choice of relevant knowledge and ideas while paying particular attention, through active learning, to: stimulating intellectual curiosity; pupil’s enjoyment of learning; skill and understanding; directing and exercising emotions; encouraging clear thinking and critical awareness; developing an interest in the process and resources of learning and in learning how to learn; fostering problem solving abilities and the ability to follow and sustain an argument; emphasising the difference between truth and falsehood and between fact and feeling endeavour to stretch the intellectual and creative capacity of individuals. Opens possibilities and opportunities for students to discover themselves, their creativity, values, ethics, societies and cultures. |
