Our school is part of Operation Encompass which is a national scheme that operates jointly between schools and police forces.
Operation Encompass is the reporting to schools, prior to the start of the next school day, when a child or young person has experienced domestic abuse.
As a school we have ensured that a number of member of our staff, known as Key Adults, have been trained in the Operation Encompass procedures allowing us to then use the information that has been shared, in confidence, to support the child/ren in our care.
The Domestic Abuse Act 2021 identifies children who witness domestic abuse as victims of domestic abuse in their own right.
We are keen to offer the best support possible to all our pupils and we believe this will be extremely beneficial for all those involved. We would like to share the following helpful guidance documents:
Merseyside Police have launched their Winter of Action campaign.
The Winter of Action aims to safeguard our communities against crime types that typically increase at this time of year, as identified by the Home Office. These include robbery, sexual offences, and drink/drug driving, among others.
We want to share important messaging with young people during this period
- Campaigns such as Ask for Angela and guidance on what to do if you or a friend have been spiked
- Resources from TH!NK on drug driving, aimed at new drivers during the festive season
- Short videos for ages 11–16 on topics like road safety, e-bike legality, theft prevention, and mobile phone security (from YourPolice.uk)
- Bike-marking sessions – we plan to run this in College in the new year

Can we also please take this opportunity to remind you of the correct procedures for the administration of medication in College. Details can be found here:
medical-needs-policy-version-1.3-1.pdf
Where parents wish for medicines to be available to students during the College the day, this must be brought to the College by an adult and pass to reception staff who will advise regarding any further steps needed. The College will only accept prescription medicines if they are in-date, labelled, provided in the original container as dispensed by a pharmacist and include instructions for dosage and storage. Non-prescription medication (eg paracetamol) must be provided in the original container showing the expiry date and should include instructions for dosage.
