Dear parents and carers,

here we go again! The Academic Year 2023-4 has started well despite the soaring temperatures! The boys have returned looking very smart and have made a good start to the term.

The refurbishment of the top floor of Outwood House has been completed, bar snagging, and looks magnificent. The building is now in full use for 6th Formers. The Edmund Rice Trust has taken out a loan to cover their contribution of £250,000 to the final cost of the project and will be grateful for any support you can provide! Another achievement this summer has been the achievement of our Bronze Anti-Bullying Award. Well done to Mrs Cubbin, Miss Monk and our Anti-Bullying student Ambassadors!

Rugby fixtures begin tomorrow with matches against Cheadle Hulme School. Our Senior teams are at home at The Ridings, where refreshments will be available. Do come and join us!

Next Thursday, 14th September, we hold our annual Autumn Open Evening, so the College will close at 2pm and the buses will depart then. Student guides should return to the College by 4.45pm, for a 5pm start and 8pm finish. Thank you for your support.

Next Saturday, 16th September, we are holding a Race Night fundraiser for our South Africa 2024 Rugby Tour. Tickets are priced £20pp, including buffet, and all parents are welcome. Please contact Mr Mason and the PE Faculty for tickets.

I give advance warning that the College will be closed to all students on Friday 22nd September. This is an INSET Day, but also our Entrance Examination Day for boys in Year 6.

On a final note, I make my annual appeal for responsible and considerate parking near the College, particularly in the afternoon. Our boys are capable of walking to neighbouring roads and only those with injuries or medical conditions need to be picked up from Egerton Road. You will make a quicker escape if you park further away!

I wish you and your families an enjoyable weekend in the sun!

Come on England!

Best wishes,

Simon Duggan
