St Anselm’s College cross country teams delivered strong performances at the English Schools Cross Country Cup National Final at Leeds Grammar School, with the senior team finishing 22nd and the intermediate team placing 13th. The intermediate race covered a distance of 4090m, while the senior race was 5230m. The course was dry, creating very quick conditions that made for a fast and competitive race.
The event saw national final debuts for James Jones and Max Done in the senior race, as well as Gabriel P, Patrick C, and Phoenix P in the intermediate category. Their performances demonstrated great promise and added valuable depth to the team.

In the senior race, Oberon K led the team home with a time of 17:23, finishing in 58th place. George G followed in 85th position, completing the course in 17:57. James J finished 88th in 18:04, just ahead of Max D, who secured 93rd place with a time of 18:12. Jac C crossed the line in 18:37, placing 111th, while Sam C finished in 142nd with a time of 21:02.

The intermediate race saw an outstanding performance from Michael P, who finished in second place with a time of 12:53. Mac L (as a Year 9) also ran well, placing 41st in 13:54. Malachi H secured 57th place with a time of 14:08. Gabriel P, making his national final debut, finished 109th in 14:46. Patrick C followed in 116th place with a time of 14:52, while Phoenix P completed the race in 16:03, finishing in 151st.

It was a fantastic effort from all the runners, demonstrating the school’s strength at the national level. Well done to the entire team on their achievements.
