CURRICULUM VISION – A highly ambitious curriculum in Science
gives students the confidence to question everything, whilst also giving them the skills to find their own answers.
INTENT – summary of the thinking behind our curriculum design and its sequencing
We aim to inspire our students and develop their scientific knowledge and understanding by providing a broad, challenging and engaging curriculum, which links ideas to their cultural context and applications in the wider world.
IMPLEMENTATION – summary of the pedagogy to be used to effectively deliver the curriculum
- Teach components before composite tasks are attempted, using a logical progression through concepts with engaging contexts being used to bring the subject to life.
- Composites could then include:
- synoptic exam questions
- Questions involving unfamiliar situations where knowledge/skills/understanding are applied
- Re-visit powerful knowledge/skills so they become embedded.
IMPACT – the long-lasting impact our curriculum will have on our students
- Develop self-motivation to better understand the world around them so they can make informed decisions.
- Be able to critically evaluate scientific information they encounter so they can have a sound understanding of current issues.
- Be able to pursue scientific careers that will permit them to contribute positively to society and our planet as a whole.
