Dear parents and carers,

we have successfully negotiated Storm Babet and reached the end of this half-term, which has been a good one at the College.
Last night’s Year 11 Parents Evening went well and ought to set the boys up for some purposeful revision during half-term, in preparation for their Mock Exams next month. I am pleased to announce that an experienced Chemistry teacher, Mrs Jan Morrison, is joining the staff immediately after half-term and will teach those classes affected by Mrs. Lenton-Harris’ absence. I have appointed Mrs Edite Woolhams to teach Chemistry and Science on a permanent contract from January 2024.
We delivered our Harvest Festival collection to the Wirral Foodbank on Monday. We collected a record 344kg of produce. Thank you for your support and generosity towards disadvantaged families in Wirral.
Our sports teams have enjoyed an outstanding half-term. The 1st XV have won 9 out of 10 matches and are in the semi-final of the Cheshire Cup, as is the Under-16 XV. They are also still in the Nat West Vase, and the Under-14s have progressed to the next round of the national competition. Congratulations also to the Hockey 1st XI who defeated Wirral GS 1-0 last week.
Christmas half-term begins at 8.35 am on Monday 30th October. Please ensure that your sons are fully compliant with our uniform and appearance expectations upon their return, with hair above collar length. On Wednesday 1st November Fr. Michael will celebrate All Saints Day Mass for Key Stage 3. Later that afternoon, at 5.30pm, Mr Dowse will lead our Introduction to GCSE event for all Year 10 boys and parents in the Hall. On Thursday 2nd we hold our Year 13 Parents Evening from 5-7.30pm on site and on Saturday 4th November, at 11am in the Chapel, Fr. Bernard Forshaw, our Association Chaplain, will celebrate the Anselmian Mass of Remembrance for Deceased Members of our community.
I hope that you will be able to enjoy some time with your sons next week. It is also a perfect opportunity for boys to complete any incomplete homework and assignments and catch up school work missed as a result of absence. They can also pursue themes and topics of personal interest!

Yours in Christ,
Simon Duggan
Headmaster
