40 miles to set aside as a time of reflection, repentance and spiritual growth
As part of our Lenten charity, the Sixth Form students at the College have decided to raise money to support the Charles Thompson Mission. Lent is the 40 days between Ash Wednesday and Easter. Those 40 days are set aside as a time of reflection, repentance and spiritual growth. 40 days are observed to represent the 40 days that Jesus spent in the desert where he fasted and was tempted by the devil. At the end of Jesus’ 40 days, was when he started his public ministry. Therefore, we have decided as a community to walk, run, swim or cycle 40 miles. We are hoping to raise £500. Every student should look to complete 40 miles and raise a minimum of £4. They can set their own challenge. For example, 20 miles a week over the two full remaining weeks of Lent. Yesterday, a group of Sixth Form students, along with Dr Cooper and Ms Hanlon used the games lesson to tick off some of those miles.
How you can help?
Since 1892, Charles Thompson’s Mission has been dedicated to providing food, clothes, care and support to those across the Wirral that are living in poverty. This will allow the charity and their local partners to reach more people.
