As a batsman some days it’s just your day and Tuesday was Sean’s day. SAC U14s were playing Wirral Grammar U14s. A team, which the lads had never beaten in 3 previous attempts.

With regular Captain Jamie injured, Sean rose to the challenge of not only scoring runs, but also captaining the side. He displayed a full range of attacking shots in an innings of 103 not out, scoring his hundred, by fittingly hitting the last ball of the 20th over for four through midwicket. A fantastic achievement for any player. This meant that SAC posted 140 for 1, with Sam partnering Sean in a 112 run partnership for the 2nd wicket.

With 140 on the board, the SAC bowlers exerted early pressure against a formidable WGS batting order, which had previously hit 168 against the U14s earlier in the season. A fantastic catch by Will at midwicket enabled an early breakthrough off Oli’s bowling. The tight bowling continued to build pressure and Will held another fantastic catch at cover off another hard hit shot. An excellent spell from Charlie resulted in 3 wickets and Reece cleaned up the tail with 4 wickets. Also, great to see was Oscar bowling his leg breaks and taking two wickets.

Overall, it was a great team performance on the field by SAC. However, the day belonged to Sean with his wonderful 103 no.

It was a great rebound win after the quarter final loss to Kings Chester two week ago.

Next week the U14s play Christian Brother rivals St.Marys Crosby.
