FSM at St. Anselm’s College:

What are the free school meal options?

Your child will be eligible to a free meal entitlement including a choice of sandwiches, a hot meal of the day, pizza, pasta, curry, and vegetarian options. If your son does not wish to use the free entitlement at lunch time it can be used a break time when there are a variety of breakfast options available such as toast, breakfast wraps and fresh fruit.

Does my child have to eat the free school meals?

Students who are registered for free school meals do not have to take up this offer each day. If you are eligible but you want your child to have a packed lunch that is ok however we do recommend that you still register.

How do I register?

You only need to register once at each school should you have children in other schools. If your son already receives free school meals you do not need to take any further action. Registering for free school meals is confidential and is administered discreetly at the College.

You no longer have to apply to the Local Authority. You can either register directly online at www.cloudforedu.org.uk/ofsm/sims-wirral or we can now do this on your behalf, you simply need to provide us with some information including your name, date of birth, National Insurance number (or national asylum seekers number) and address as well as the name(s) and date(s) of birth of the child you wish to register.

The process is straightforward. If your son is eligible for free school meals because you are in receipt of Universal Credit, there is transitional protection in place whilst it is being rolled out. They will continue to be eligible for free school meals until the end of their phase of secondary education even if your circumstances change. For exceptions please refer to www.gov.uk and search free school meals.

If you would like us to register on your behalf, you can email us at freeschoolmeals@st-anselms.com

What happens next?

Once we have submitted an eligibility registration, we are notified whether you are eligible for pupil premium and free school meals or not and we will let you know if your son will be entitled to free school meals. As we use a cash-less payment system, £2.80 is loaded to your sons canteen account to enable him to choose a meal, please note that the balance does not accumulate therefore it is in your son’s best interest to use their daily entitlement.
