Dear Parents and Carers,

Another very busy week at the College! We began by reflecting on this year’s Anti-Bullying theme, “Power for Good,” considering how each of us can use our influence to make positive choices and the impact when we choose not to. This, of course, was underpinned by our Edmund Rice value of ‘Building a Christian Community’.  Thank you to all who wore their odd socks!

In the spirit of nurturing our Christian community, and using our power for good, our “Faith in Action” Sixth Form group collaborated with the Year 7 Cookery Class to prepare pre-packaged Bangers & Mash meals for distribution to the homeless in Wirral. Meanwhile, other members of the Sixth Form spent the afternoon at Nazareth House, where they engaged in conversation and companionship with residents.

On Tuesday, we held a beautiful and moving Remembrance Service, attended by former Anselmians and special guests. We honoured the Anselmians who served and lost their lives in the Second World War and in conflicts since. In particular, we reflected on the stories of the three youngest men, only a year or so older than many of our Sixth Formers:

  • Bernard Joseph Sudlow, Royal Air Force, aged 19
  • George Henry Hatfield, Royal Navy, aged 22
  • Raymond Tasker McLean, Royal Air Force, aged 19

May they rest in peace.

This week we were also pleased to welcome Sixth Form students from BHSA for a joint Oxbridge information assembly, which proved highly informative. A reminder that our Sixth Form Open Evening will take place on Thursday, 20th November at 6pm in the Hall.

Finally, we extend a huge congratulations to our outstanding Cross-Country teams! All three teams—Juniors (Years 7–8), Inters (Years 9–10), and Seniors (Years 11–13)—have qualified for the National Final in Warwickshire on 6th December. We are immensely proud of their achievements. Our sincere thanks to Mr Allkins for his dedication and unwavering commitment as their coach.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,

Mrs Cubbin
