2nd May 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

On Tuesday, students from Years 7–10 attended a celebratory Mass at Our Lady’s Church. This was a votive Mass in honour of the Feast of St. Anselm (21st April) and the upcoming Feast of Blessed Edmund Rice (5th May). It was truly special to gather all the boys in one place for this occasion. They conducted themselves with the reverence and maturity we are so proud of.

Thank you to everyone who supported and attended our ‘Mini Bus’ Race Night. Thanks to your generosity, we raised over £4,500, bringing our total to an impressive £33,095.90. We are now just £8,000 away from securing the mini-bus, which is ready and waiting for us once funds are finalised — let’s keep going! https://www.gofundme.com/f/st-anselms-college-community-minibus-fundraising-project

A reminder that we are now fully into the exam season. Year 12 mock exams are well underway, GCSE oral exams are complete, and the first written GCSE and A-Level exams begin in under a week. Key Stage 3 examinations begin the week commencing 19th May, with Year 10 summer examinations starting the week commencing 18th June.

To support students in their preparation, a range of revision materials is available. In addition, there are daily lunchtime and after-school revision sessions for GCSE and A-Level students. As parents and carers, you can make a big difference in supporting your child’s revision. Here are a few key suggestions:

Create a structured study environment: Provide a quiet, well-lit space with a consistent revision schedule to encourage focused study habits.

Promote healthy routines: Encourage regular breaks, nutritious meals, physical activity, and sufficient sleep. Consider limiting access to distractions such as mobile phones and gaming consoles during study time.

Provide encouragement and emotional support: Offer reassurance, acknowledge small achievements, and remind them that steady, consistent effort is the key to success — one exam at a time.

The Week Ahead:

· 5 May – Bank Holiday (College closed)

· 6 May – Year 12 exams continue

· 6 May – Year 9 Belgium Trip Information Evening, 5:00pm

· 8 May – GCSE written exams commence

· 9 May – Year 12 Duke of Edinburgh

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable bank holiday weekend.

Warm regards,

Mrs. Cubbin
