Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to begin by congratulating two exceptionally talented Year 7 students, Harry Kenwright and Orelouwa Adewole, who have been highly commended for their entries in the Christopher Salmon Poetry Competition 2025, part of the Wirral Poetry Festival. This very special competition is held in memory of Christopher Salmon, a poetry enthusiast and former Calday Grammar School student who sadly passed away in February 2009, aged just 15. May his name continue to be remembered through this wonderful competition.
We are also incredibly proud of our Year 8 and Year 9 students, who achieved remarkable success at the North West Schools’ Touch Rugby Championships. Their outstanding performance has secured them a place at the National Championships in Oxford. Congratulations also to their coach Ms Hanlon.
This morning, we bid a fond farewell to our Year 11 students during a special assembly. It was a moment to reflect and share memories, including some very entertaining photos and stories from their Year 7 days. We wish them every success with their ongoing revision—please note that timetabled revision lessons will continue daily in College. Staffed revision rooms are also available for all students daily. We look forward to celebrating the end of their exams with them at the Celebration Morning on Friday 20th June.
A gentle reminder to Year 13 families: among the many celebratory events taking place, the Year 13 Prom will be held at Thornton Manor on Friday 20th June. Please ensure that payments are made promptly via ParentPay.
