Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank you for allowing your son to support our Open Evening last night. The feedback from prospective parents was overwhelmingly positive. Many commented on the confidence, maturity, and enthusiasm of the students, and how highly they spoke of the College. It was truly heartening to hear, and I’m sure, like me, you too are very proud of them. The evening was unexpectedly busy — far more than we usually see in June, which is typically the quieter of our two Open Evenings. I am optimistic that this strong turnout is a positive indicator and that we may once again see an oversubscribed intake for 2026/27.
Congratulations to our Year 7 cricket team, in reaching the Cheshire Cup Final — the first St Anselm’s team to do so in eight years. Along the way, they secured impressive wins over Calday, Wirral Grammar, and Helsby. They faced Cheadle Hulme in the final yesterday, and although they fell just 30 runs short, it was a phenomenal achievement and a testament to their talent and determination.
Best of luck to our Year 8 and Year 9 students who excelled at the Northwest Schools Touch Rugby Championships. Their outstanding performance has earned them a place at the National Championships in Oxford, taking place today — we are incredibly proud of their success.
A heartfelt thank you to all families who are generously hosting one (or in some cases two) of our Spanish Immersion students. The College was buzzing with excitement this morning as they arrived with their hosts to participate in our annual Brother Kerrigan Sponsored Walk. As you know, this walk honours the memory of Brother Kerrigan, former Headteacher of the College, who was tragically killed by rebel forces in Sierra Leone in 1995. This year marks the 30th anniversary of his death. We walk today in his memory, celebrating a legacy built on community, service, and enduring spirit. Following the walk, students will return to College for an afternoon of music, sport, ice cream, and inflatable activities — a fitting celebration of community and togetherness.
Finally, thank you in advance for your support with the Sponsored Walk — your contributions are greatly appreciated and make a real difference.
