Dear Parents and Carers,

As mentioned last week, I had the great privilege of visiting the United Nations, in Geneva, with Sixth Form students Ewan and Michael, in association with Edmund Rice International. It was an exceptional and inspiring experience. Key highlights included: developing a deeper understanding of how the United Nations operates, observing the Lebanon Universal Periodic Review session in action and visiting the Red Cross Museum. This visit will undoubtedly have a lasting and meaningful impact on our advocacy work within the College. I am looking forward to working with our Edmund Rice Office, in Liverpool, in early February, when students from across our Edmund Rice schools will come together to draft a United Nations statement focused on the mental health and wellbeing of young people today.

This morning there was a real sense of anticipation and excitement as our Year 11 students participated in their mock examination results session. Students were given the opportunity to experience what it feels like to open their examination envelopes and view their outcomes.  The key message to students was to savour that feeling. If the results were pleasing, they should reflect on what it would take to do even better. If the results were disappointing, now is the time to act, so that August brings pride and opportunity, rather than regret or limitation. As we reminded students, success is modest improvement, done consistently!

I wish all students the very best of luck in the activities and games taking place this weekend.

Kind regards,

Mrs Cubbin
