Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to begin by extending a huge congratulations to our outstanding U16 team, who were crowned Cheshire Cup Champions. Thank you to everyone who came along to offer their support. To describe the match as nail-biting would be an understatement, it was a truly remarkable display of resilience, determination, and perseverance. Even after a try was disallowed in the final two minutes, the team remained focused and resolute, going on to score again and secure the cup. Congratulations must go to the coaching team, Mr Kilcourse, and to the entire squad who have trained tirelessly throughout the year. I very much hope these same qualities of commitment and consistency are carried forward into their GCSE studies this year!

Congratulations also to our cross-country team for their excellent achievements. On Wednesday, 11 athletes qualified to represent Merseyside at the English Schools’ Championships, with Fred R claiming victory in the junior race on his College debut. On Thursday, at the Rawthey Run Invitational in Sedbergh, the team finished an impressive second overall, just behind the current national champions. Noah M also delivered a strong performance, placing second individually. These results reflect a highly successful few days for the team.

Our annual Battle of the Bands event, taking place this Sunday at Future Yard, is now sold out. I would like to wish all the bands the very best of luck, I know the evening will be a fantastic showcase of talent.

Finally, I have the privilege of accompanying Sixth Form students to Geneva this weekend in association with the Edmund Rice Schools Network. During the visit, students will explore key aspects of the United Nations, including a guided tour, sessions on the Human Rights Council and UN mechanisms, and attendance at a Human Rights Council Universal Periodic Review session. This promises to be a highly enriching and informative experience.

I wish you a relaxing weekend.

Kind regards,

Mrs Cubbin
