Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another exceptionally busy and celebratory week at the College.

On Wednesday, our Edmund Rice Ambassadors presented reflections on their recent visit to Geneva.  This was followed up yesterday, when they continued their work by collaborating with the Edmund Rice office and students from across our network producing a report on: “The impact of mental health challenges on the enjoyment of human rights by young people.”  This report will be sent to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and will be presented at the Human Rights Council in September 2026. This is an extraordinary step forward, in taking action to make a difference.  I am immensely proud of their leadership and advocacy.

Our Under-15 team showed tremendous determination and spirit in their match against Warwick on Monday. Although the result did not fall in our favour, they played their hearts out to the final whistle. Our Under-16 team has achieved a truly remarkable milestone by progressing to the final four of the School Sports Magazine National Cup. With over 200 schools competing nationwide, this places them amongst the very best in the country and currently the top team in the North of England. Details re: the National Semi-Final will be shared asap!

Year 11 had an amazing Sixth Form Taster Day today, Outwood House has never been so busy and noisy!

I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to all parents and carers who took the time to complete the Church Schools Inspection questionnaire. Your feedback, encouragement, and continued support are invaluable.

Most importantly, I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude and admiration to your children. To say they were exceptional this week would be an understatement. They represented the College with maturity, pride, and integrity; I am incredibly proud of each and every one of them. I am sorry that not all students who wished to meet with the inspectors were able to do so due to limited capacity, but their enthusiasm speaks volumes about the strength of our community.  It is a privilege to be part of such an inspiring community of governors, parents, carers, staff, and students, who consistently go above and beyond and so willingly showcase what makes our Edmund Rice College so distinctive and special. The inspection report will be published in approximately 15 days, and I will share the outcomes and grading with you as soon as they are available.

I wish you and your families a restful and relaxing weekend

Kind regards,

Mrs Cubbin
