Dear parents and carers,

just as we were looking forward to the weekend we heard of today’s terrible accident on the M53. We remember the victims and their families in our prayers.

Next week we observe several liturgical celebrations including the end of the Season of Creation and the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi on Wednesday, which are so closely intertwined. On Thursday we celebrate the Year 7 Welcome Mass at 6.30pm in the Hall, the first college liturgy of their Anselmian careers. All Year 7 families have been invited by email today. Form Masses have also begun for Year 10 on Friday afternoons. We are praying the Rosary in the Chapel on Thursday lunchtime as October is the month dedicated to Our Lady of The Rosary. All boys are welcome.

Mathematicians in years 11, 12 and 13 will be taking part in the Senior Maths Challenge on Tuesday morning. A new extra-curricular development is the start of Japanese Club in MFL on Thursday lunchtime.

Our rugby teams have enjoyed a successful start to the season, as was confirmed against Wirral GS last Saturday. The 1st and 2nd XVs both enjoyed big wins away from home, our first senior double triumph at Cross Lane this century! We only lost one fixture so we are looking forward to tomorrow’s matches against Manchester GS. The 1st and Under-16 XVs will be in action in the Cheshire Cup on Wednesday, hoping to follow in the footsteps of the Under-15s who defeated Bishop Heber HS 35-24 on Thursday to progress to the next round of the cup.

The Year 12 Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition runs from Sunday to Tuesday next week, led by Miss Browning.

I gently remind you that some of our boys suffer from nut allergies, so please remember this when packing your sons’ lunches. We cannot guarantee to be a nut-free site, but we can do our best.

I wish you and your families an enjoyable weekend and a safe return journey for our Spanish Immersion trip.

Yours in Christ,

Simon Duggan
