Dear parents and carers,

on this the Feast of St. Anselm, I wish you and your families a Happy Feast Day! I insist that you take the opportunity to celebrate this evening!

Fr. Michael celebrated Mass for Key Stage 3 in the Hall this afternoon and the boys behaved respectfully and participated impressively.

We have already had some highlights in this first week of term. Our Year 10 practice Careers Interview morning was a great success on Thursday. A particular thank you to our many parental interviewers whose contributions were invaluable.

As you might know it is the London Marathon this weekend, which I ran twice in the late 1990s. Good luck to Michael Phelan, Y8, who is running for the North West in the Mini-Marathon, and to Mr Redding, father of Teddy.

I am proud to report that the boys have already raised over £2300 for our Lenten charities. Thank you for your generosity and support in these difficult times. Key Stage 3 raised £1200 alone!

We have emailed you to advise you that NEU Strike Days are planned for Thursday 27th April and Tuesday 2nd May. On Thursday Years 7 and 10 will be taught remotely at home, with no boys in those Years on site. Your sons should check Microsoft Teams and Satchel One for their learning resources, following a Thursday Week B timetable. Years 8, 9, 11 and the 6th Form will have lessons on site as per the timetable.

The industrial action has forced us to reschedule the Year 8 Parents Evening for Thursday 4th May, 5-8pm on site.

Modern Foreign Language GCSE Speaking tests begin for Year 11 from Monday as this year’s Exam season starts.

Please remember in your prayers Br. Tom Kelly, formerly head of the Christian Brothers’ community in Outwood House and past Headmaster of The Mount. Br. Tom served for many years on our Appeals Panel. May he rest in peace.

I wish you and your families a relaxing weekend.

Yours in Christ,

Simon Duggan

Headmaster
