Last week I had the honour of being invited to Buckingham Palace to celebrate young people achieving their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. We had a number of alumni in attendance who completed the award a few years ago. It was a wonderful event, with tea and cake provided by the Palace and a number of celebrities in attendance. They explained how the skills they learnt through the award scheme were valuable in the success of their careers. The Earl of Wessex made a speech to congratulate everyone, and he also took the time to speak more personally with the participants. I’m sure the occasion made walking up Cadair Idris in the wind and rain all the more worth it! Congratulations to Owen, Joe, Rob and Alfie (pictured) and all other members of the College who have achieved this award.
