Today, we were delighted to welcome back former students Andrew and William Oates to St. Anselm’s as they shared insights into their careers in engineering. The talk, attended by Year 11 and Year 12 students, provided a fantastic opportunity to learn about the diverse pathways within the engineering field and gain valuable advice on pursuing a future in this industry.

Andrew and William spoke about their experiences in chemical engineering, highlighting the essential role of computing in their work. They emphasised that there is no getting away from programming in modern engineering and discussed how coding is now a crucial skill for solving real-world challenges.

They also demonstrated how Python plays a key part in their daily work, showcasing its applications in problem-solving and data analysis. Their insights reinforced the growing connection between engineering and computer science, inspiring students to consider the importance of programming skills in their future careers.
