ST. ANSELM’S COLLEGE CURRICULUM VISION FOR SCIENCE
VISION – A highly ambitious curriculum in Science gives students the confidence to question everything, whilst also giving them the skills to find their own answers.  
INTENT – summary of the thinking behind your curriculum design and its sequencing
We aim to inspire our students and develop their scientific knowledge, practical skills and understanding by providing a broad, challenging and engaging curriculum, which links ideas to their cultural context and applications in the wider world.  
IMPLEMENTATION – summary of the pedagogy to be used to effectively deliver the curriculum Teach components before composite tasks are attempted, using a logical progression through concepts with engaging contexts being used to bring the subject to life.
Composites could then include: synoptic exam questions and questions involving unfamiliar situations where knowledge/skills/understanding are applied.
Re-visit powerful knowledge/skills so they become embedded.  
IMPACT – the long-lasting impact your curriculum will have on our students
Develop self-motivation to better understand the world around them so they can make informed decisions.
Develop practical skills that can be applied in scientific investigations.
Be able to critically evaluate scientific information they encounter so they can have a sound understanding of current issues.
Be able to pursue scientific careers that will permit them to contribute positively to society and our planet as a whole.
