Dear parents and carers,
I hope that you enjoyed my Newsletter last week. I am pleased to inform you that we have made a productive start to this half-term.
We have observed All Saints and All Souls Days in the College Calendar and students have also received Merseyside Police and Fire Brigade bonfire and firework safety briefings. In rugby our Cheshire Cup runs came to an end after close matches against King’s Macclesfield (1st XV) and St. Ambrose College (U-16 XV). We hope to return to winning ways against Altrincham GS tomorrow! Mr Hale is delighted to report that 12 members of our Under-15 squad (Y10) have been selected for the Sale Sharks Developing Player Programme. It is unlikely that any other school has so many players selected in a single year group!
The Parents Evening season is now well underway! It was like a meeting of old friends with Year 13 parents last night. Next Thursday, 10th November, we have Year 11 Parents Evening on site from 5-8pm. Boys must attend in uniform.
The Hall was full for our Year 7 Welcome Mass on Wednesday, despite the foul weather. This was a wonderful start to the boys’ Anselmian careers, and it was a pleasure to share the evening with their families.
I am sorry to report that Mr Duncan Hendry has left our staff for personal reasons. Mr Ethan Dunn is teaching PE & Games this term. Please remember Ms Karen Kay in your prayers following family bereavement. Her timetable will be taught by an English specialist this week.
On Friday we will commemorate those Anselmians who died in the service of our country during the 20th Century, and all victims of conflict, at our annual Remembrance Ceremony in the Hall. Next week is the deadline for bringing in Christmas Shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. Our parents’ association, FOSA, is meeting at 6.30pm next Tuesday in Outwood, in order to plan our Christmas Party on 9th December. Parental volunteers are welcome to join us.
I wish you and your families an enjoyable and safe weekend.
Yours in Christ,
Simon Duggan
