“The will of God be done in this and everything we undertake.”
Blessed Edmund Rice
Chaplaincy refers to the way in which we conduct and practice our religious life. It is something all-encompassing, and in the spirit of Edmund Rice himself. Our Catholic Life is designed to hold value for every one of our staff and students, regardless of their backgrounds, or their personal beliefs. Our Eight Essential call on us to recognize the essential dignity and value of each human life, and the care and well-being of each individual lies at the centre of our school. It is our belief that St. Anselm’s faith-centered environment is perfectly placed for supporting and helping our young men in their growth; equipping them with values that will serve them throughout their entire lives. Our Chaplaincy provision covers four key areas:
- Daily Prayer
- Celebrations of the Word
- The Sacraments
- Further formation – in Retreats, Charitable Work and Student leadership.
Chaplaincy is administered through our ‘Senior Chaplaincy Team,’ which meets regularly to plan and implement our liturgical life, always seeking new ways to express the Catholic Faith of the school, and to uphold its particular Charism.

A welcome from our Chaplain, Mr. Kearney

Hello, my name is Arran Kearney. I am an alumnus of the College, having graduated from the Sixth Form in 2019. I pursued my studies at Milligan University in Tennessee, where I earned a degree in History a subject that has been a passion of mine since my time at St Anselm’s. I was fortunate to attend university in the United States on a running scholarship, an opportunity for which I am deeply grateful to the College.
I have taken on the role of College Chaplain both to offer students the enriching experiences I enjoyed during my own education and, most importantly, to live a life guided by faith. The inspiration to pursue such a life is, in my view, the greatest gift St Anselm’s has given me.
