Dear Parents/Carers,

Our assemblies this week focused on the season of Advent and how we can use this time to think about and help those most in need. Over the next few weeks students will lead on a number of fundraising activities including sponsored runs, staff v student football/dodgeball, cake sales and much more. All money raised will go directly to the chosen charities. KS5 – Claire House, KS4 – Charles Thompson Mission and CARITAS, KS3 – Wirral Ark and Paul Lavelle. Thank you in advance for your support.

We had the privilege of watching an award winning drama production by St. Julie’s Catholic High School, as part of the “International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and Girls”. This drama marked the start of 16 days of activism running from November 25 to December 10. The aim of the drama was to raise awareness of violence against women and girls and to promote gender equality. To mark this event our boys wore a white ribbon to show their commitment to this cause. Support and help is available for any members of our community who may be affected by these issues.

In the world of careers, our budding veterinary students attended a talk on Veterinary Science led by our alumni Sonny Groves. Yr. 11 & 12 attended an Apprenticeship Fair and a team of Yr. 9 students took part in a STEM competition designing a new product for Unilever.

Last night, FOSA excelled in a show stopping wreath making event held here in the College hall. Over 85 handmade wreaths were created; mulled wine and music flowed and, most importantly, we raised a significant amount of money, which will go directly to furnishing our brand new learning hub recently opened here in College.

We hope to repeat the success of last night again next Friday night at our annual FOSA Christmas Showcase. An evening filled with music, spot prizes, party games, Christmas quiz and Christmas raffle. Make sure your son returns your ticket stubs to ensure entry to the draw before next Friday.

Due to storm Bert all rugby fixtures were postponed at the weekend, well done to all our cross country runners who braved the freezing cold and wet conditions on Saturday morning!

Next Wednesday afternoon, 4th December, the College Rugby 1st XV play the prestigious quarter final fixture at home, to Rugby School (where William Webb Ellis first picked up a football and ran with it!) We are hoping to have as many supporters in attendance as possible; please join us if you can.
