As part of their ongoing Personal Development program, Key Stage 5 students recently participated in an insightful talk delivered by the Paul Lavelle Foundation. The session focused on understanding and establishing healthy relationships, recognising the characteristics of a supportive partnership, and exploring the connection between relationships and mental health.
The foundation’s speaker provided students with practical strategies to identify and nurture healthy relationships, emphasising mutual respect, communication, and boundaries. The session also addressed the warning signs of unhealthy or toxic dynamics and offered guidance on where to seek help if needed. Mental health was a key theme, with discussions highlighting the importance of emotional well-being and how positive relationships contribute to overall mental health.
Students were encouraged to reflect on their own relationships and consider how they can apply what they learned in their everyday interactions. This was a vital opportunity for students to gain the skills and knowledge needed to navigate relationships during their formative years and beyond.
