On Monday afternoon, eighteen of our students engaged in a session delivered by the Princess Diana Awards, focussing on Anti-HBT Bullying, as part our continued work as Anti-bullying Ambassadors.
The session aimed to help students identify homophobic, biphobic and transphobic attitudes and how this can lead to HBT bullying and the impact that this can have on the lives of young people. Students were able to hear real life accounts of young people who had suffered such experiences in their own education settings and how this had been responded to and resolved. Students were given the opportunity to consider strategies which could be applied to our own community to ensure we remain a community inspired by Christ’s love for all people. We are looking forward to continuing our work to tackle any and all instances of bullying behaviour and to ensuring that our community remains an environment where all are treated with respect and kindness. Ms Monk would like to thank students for the contributions and representing the College so positively during this training.
We would also like to thank the Princess Diana Awards for enabling us to participate, and particularly our trainer Lucy for their contribution. In recognition of our student’ efforts, and continued commitment of the College, we have been presented with a Diana Awards Certificate.
