On Monday 19th June, nine pupils from Year 10 took part in an E-sports inspired competition at Tranmere Rovers Prenton Park ground. Esports is an industry rapidly on the rise. Global Esports revenues are tipped to hit $2 billion this year, with more than 450 million viewers tuning in last year. As part of a balanced lifestyle, it is also a beneficial alternative to passive media like TV and supports building a wide array of technical and personal skills.
Tranmere Rovers are running a BTEC qualification and organised the competition to promote the course. Pupils were involved in a number of activities and challenges to create professional standard promotional material for the launch of the course. St. Anselm’s College team were the first to rise to the challenge and we await the judge’s decision when the other schools have participated.
