On Thursday 7th March, the College held its first Parental Information and Support Evening which involved 3 workshops presented by Response, Wirral Health in Schools and Action for Children. The sessions where designed to raise awareness on the following topics: Drugs and County Lines, Vaping and Mental Health in teenagers. The event was well attended with parents noting how useful, informative and passionate the guest speakers were. Here is a selection of comments from the Parent feedback form:
“Very direct, honest and frank conversation about drugs was a reality check that we all need. I really appreciated her no nonsense talk. These are the difficult conversations we need to be having.”
“Action for children were so passionate and offered real life examples for us to take away and use, not only with children but also for ourselves.”
“It was far more informative and useful than I imagined.”
“I learnt a great strategy on how best to approach a tricky conversation with my son regarding these topics, something as a parent I have found difficult in the past. Great evening.”
“The positives to take away are the timing was great and the sessions were well organised and planned. The presentations were relevant and informative. The presenters were so engaging, enthusiastic and passionate about their work it was fantastic. The negatives were I was sorry that more parents didn’t take the opportunity to engage.”
We look forward to organising a similar event with the external agencies we work with here at St Anselm’s again in the near future. We will continue to strive to work along side the parents and carers of our College to promote good life choices and health lifestyles within our community.
