Congratulations to Year 11 pupil Alex Kerr who has been selected for the IRFU IQ Rugby Team, Provincial Tour taking place in Ireland on the 22nd – 30th July 2023 to play Ulster Rugby and Connacht Rugby.
IQ Rugby is the IRFU Player Pathway for Irish Qualified players outside of Ireland with the potential drive and ambition to play rugby for Ireland.
This will provide Alex with an opportunity to work closely with the IRFU High-Performance staff and to be benchmarked directly within the Irish Provincial Age Grade programmes.
This tour is an important part of the IRFU Player Pathway and integration into the National Ireland Age Grade squads and provides the best opportunity for an IQ player to showcase their talent against their peers in Ireland.
Alex has been selected from over 250+ players across the UK at this stage to achieve this place and will now have the potential opportunity to be selected for the Irish U18 and 19s age grade squads in the future.
This follows on from his outstanding season in the current St Anselm’s 1st XV side and his performances for the full Sale Academy.
